Show Bio
The SUPER WHY mission is to inspire children to develop a lifelong love of reading and books.
The SUPER WHY television series is the first preschool show designed to help children 3 to 6 learn to read through interactive story adventures!
The adventures take place in Storybrook Village, a magical three- dimensional world behind the shelves in your library, where all of your favorite fairytale characters live, including four best friends: Red, from Little Red Ridinghood; Pig from The Three Little Pigs, Princess from The Princess & the Pea, and Whyatt, the curious younger brother of Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk, who discovers he has the power to fly inside books to find the answers to his questions.
Whenever there is a question or problem in Storybrook Village, Whyatt calls his fairytale friends to their secret clubhouse, called “The Book Club,” where they transform into literacy-powered superheroes: Alpha Pig, with “Alphabet Power,” Wonder Red, with “Word Power,” Princess Presto, with “Spelling Power,” Super Why, with the “Power to Read,” and Super You, with the “Power to Help!” Together, our main characters and the Home Viewer are the “SUPER READERS!” The Super Readers, literally, jump inside books to find the answers to their problems. Super Why and the Super Readers...to the rescue!
While inside each book, Super Why and the Super Readers go on an interactive
reading adventure. We talk to characters from the story, play reading games and activities to overcome obstacles, and even change the ending to save the day! Along the way, we learn and practice key skills recommended by the National Reading Panel, including letter identification, word decoding, spelling, vocabulary and comprehension, and experience books as we never have before! The Super Readers fly back to the Book Club to decode the Super Story Answer, or theme, of the episode. With the answer to our question in hand, we go back and solve our problem. Hip Hip Hooray, the Super Readers save the day!
